How does the KMS activator work?

• KMS stands for Key Management Service, a legal (genuine) activation method provided by Microsoft for volume license customers (group purchase and a large number of a product) such as organizations, schools and governments.
• In the above environments, systems called KMS Clients are activated by the KMS host server (which has a valid Microsoft license key) and do not need to contact Microsoft’s activation servers. Read here and here for more information.

Office conversion from Retail to Volume

All Retail editions of Office must be converted to Volume editions before activation, especially Click-to-Run editions installed via ISO file or with the Office Deployment Tool.

User guide

– This script requires Windows PowerShell to run, first make sure that this software is not removed or disabled from the system.

– Remove any software related to KMS activation from your system.

– Temporarily disable your antivirus or trust the downloaded file along with its extracted path in your antivirus.

– If you only use Windows Defender on Windows 10 and 8.1, there is no need to disable it, the script will automatically trust the C:\Windows\System32\SppExtComObjHook.dll file.

– Download the compressed file and extract it in a short path without a name with special characters or long spaces.

– Administrator access is required to run the script.

– KMS_VL_ALL has three activation methods.

Activation modes

– AutoRenewal
suggested mode; It only needs to install the emulator once, and after that the system will automatically activate according to the schedule.

To run this mode:
– From the script menu, click option 2, i.e. Install Activation AutoRenewal.

If you are using an antivirus, be sure to remove the following file from the search list or mark it as a healthy file:
C:\Windows\System32\SppExtComObjHook.dll
In this case, if you install the Office suite in the future, it will be activated automatically.

If you want to convert and activate the C2R version of Office or go through the activation process again, select option 1, namely Activate [Auto Renewal Mode], from the script menu.

–
Manual mode; This mode only activates Windows and Office once and then removes all activation effects.

To run this mode:
– First, make sure that the above mode, i.e. AutoRenewal, is not installed or completely removed.
– From the script menu, click option 1, which means Activate [Manual Mode].

In this case, if you install Office in the future or change the version of Windows, you must go through the activation process again; Also remember that reactivation must be done before the activation expires.

– External
independent mode; In this way, you activate Windows and Office from a trusted external server without the local KMS emulator being installed on the system.

The external server can be an Internet address or an IP address.

To run this mode:
– Select E or Activate [External Mode] from the script menu.
– Then enter the desired server address.

In this case, if you install the Office suite in the future, it will only be activated if the external server is still available.

The entered server address remains in the system so that the activated products can be reactivated at the time of renewal, and if the entered server is not available, you must go through the above steps again with the new server address.

Checking the activation status

KMS_VL_ALL uses two separate and complementary methods to check the activation status of supported products, each of which queries the status in a different way:
